Haying

The neighbor came over and cut hay yesterday. Technically, I guess he cut the grass, once dry it becomes hay. Like, you don't put toast in the toaster, you put bread in the toaster and it becomes toast. Here it is becoming hay. I'm not sure at what point it ceases being grass and becomes hay.

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain. It was just a nightmare though. Whew! I'll rest easier once this is safely in the barn.

This tree, one of many, smells heavenly. I wish they would hurry up and invent scratch and sniff computers.

It is hard to see, but they are covered in blossoms.

The bumblebees and honey bees are very happy. The trees buzz with them.

do you bale your hay or make those huge round rolls? I have always thought they looked so great in the field while drying. Yes, sun, finally! the garden is starting to heal and it is warm enough i am thinking of spending part of my afternoon in the hammock reading and part dying in the garage. We'll see as daughters boyfriend is coming over to hang out (they had end of school today early as it was the last day) and start college classes in a week! and the neighbor is coming over to do the grass...not much into exposing the body to the world in the tanning bikini! Wish i could smell that tree!

I think it changes magically from grass to hay once it's successfully in the barn (sans rain). It's a high-anxiety time, that, between cutting and putting up.
